Michael Rosenbaum reveals 'Smallville' finale details

"Smallville" fans looking for their favorite bald-headed anti-hero are in for a shock, to say the least. So what does Rosenbaum think his fans' initial reaction will be to Dutch? "The first fan reaction would be like, 'I like him better as Lex. He looks better bald. He shouldn't be on this show. He should be Lex forever,'" he teases affectionately. "that would probably be their first reaction. Hopefully some of them will go, 'Oh, he's actually kind of funny. This is good,' or maybe not.  I think one thing they'll appreciate is that whatever character I do, I go balls out."

tom-michael-pilot.jpgObviously, we had to be greedy and ask Rosenbaum for even more scoop on the series finale of "Smallville," and while he wouldn't reveal too much -- like if he shot any scenes with anyone besides Tom Welling -- he did say you will be seeing more of Lex Luthor than you might have originally thought.

"We did a lot. I know people thought, 'Oh, he only went up for one day.' We did 19 hours," he explains. "Okay, for anyone out there who is like, 'Oh, he only went out there for one day,' I was up there for 19 hours."

He continues, "We did four different things. Two nice scenes and then two other specialty things that I won't tell you about. I'm a part of the finale and I think it's important."

Count 'em, people. That's four Lex scenes/"specialty things" you can look forward to. We now leave it to you to debate just what those specialty things are.

'Smallville's' Michael Rosenbaum on working with Tom Welling again

"Smallville" star Michael Rosenbaum delighted fans when he confirmed that he'd return to the show as Lex Luthor for one final time in the two-hour May 13 finale.
Zap2it caught up with Clark Kent's ex-nemesis at the "American Idol" Top 12 party on Thursday night. Rosenbaum was fresh off of his first day on the set of "Breaking In."

Once he answered that one, we got to the real big question. Why did he hold out so long before agreeing to come back to "Smallville"? It was a rough wait not only for the fans, but for the producers and his long-time friend Tom Welling.

He sighs. "It's so funny how the fans can get so intense." He deepens his voice to an angry tone. "'What is he doing that he can't come back? George Clooney came back to ER, and he can't? How big is he?' I'm like, 'Guys, God, relax.' It's not about that. So one day, I called the producers up, and I just said 'Hey, I'm doing this new show, but I'd love to come back and finish what I started.'" He pauses and laughs. "Which I thought I finished three years ago, by the way, but, let's do this. And they made it happen."

Rosenbaum went to Vancouver about two weeks ago to shoot his final scenes, and he had a great time getting into character... with the help of a new accessory. "I had a bald cap that looked amazing," he says. "I couldn't shave my head because I was on 'Breaking In.'"

He confesses that he did initially have a few reservations about going back to the "Smallville" set. "There were personal reasons why I quit 'Smallville' that no one really knows about, that I never really talk about. It was just personal things, that I just never talked about. It was nobody else's business. But I never heard the end of it," he says, chuckling. "Look, I always said I never thought it would last 10 seasons. I can barely have a relationship lasts 10 days. Ten years on a TV show? That's a long time. But then they started calling me out. I finally said, 'You know what guys? I want to do this. Let's just do this.' I want to do it the right way, I want to do it for the fans. I swear to God I did it for the fans. I never want to hear 'Why didn't you go back?' I wanted it to end the way it should have."

Now that all is said and done, Rosenbaum says he thinks that the final scenes between Clark and Lex are "excellent." He was warmly welcomed back on the set by old friends. "It was so great. I went up there and guys that weren't even working on the show anymore came to set to hang out. One guy brought me a joint," he jokes. "I mean, it's a real family."
Rosenbaum and Welling had a great time working together again. "Tom and I had a wonderful time together," he tells us. "We laughed a lot. I shot a couple of scenes with him."
It wasn't all laughter, though. Fans are going to have a very emotional finale experience come May -- and they're not the only ones. "I shot for 19 hours, and honestly, I had a tear in my eye at the end. I was like, 'Man, this is really it,'" Rosenbaum says wistfully.

Confirmado Lex Regresa

EW Michael Rosenbaum turned down finale appearance as Lex Luthor

Lex Luthor’s latest scheme is perhaps his most villainous yet: Refusing to appear in the Smallville series finale.
EW has learned that actor Michael Rosenbaum has repeatedly rebuffed attempts by producers this season to get him back on The CW’s show to reprise his role as Luthor in the finale.
“He has put the show behind him and moved on,” says a knowledgeable source. “He’s pursuing his other creative outlet [writing]. By all indications, he is not going to be involved.”
The door still remains open for Rosenbaum to come on board, but it’s closing fast. Smallville wraps series production late next month, with only three episodes — including the two-hour finale — left to shoot.
Apart from seeing the Man of Steel finally put on the spandex suit and fly like he means it, a re-appearance by Rosenbaum is the top request by fans looking for creative closure in Smallville‘s final season. (Forget Waiting for Superman — for Smallville fans, it’s all about Waiting for Lex.)
Rosenbaum played Superman’s arch rival for seven seasons on the show and Smallville ends its epic 10-year run in May. Producers have publicly taken a “you’ll have to tune in to find out” stance when asked whether Rosenbaum will show up, all the while naturally hoping the actor will change his mind

Kristin's Smallville costar Michael Rosenbaum was at a Con in Los Angles this past week and he had this to say about Kristin when talking about Smallville:

El compañero de reparto de Kristin, Michael Rosenbaum estubo en una convencion la semana pasada y ha dicho lo siguiente refiriendose a Kristen mientras hablaba de Smallvill: CIta: Extraño a esas personas, extraño a los tecnicos y el elenco. Michael Rosenbaum At The London "Insurgence Convention"

Michael Rosenbaum at the "Insurgence Convention" in London on Saturday, September 4, 2010.  Rosenbaum answers questions asked by the audience, probably the most pivotal question is on his possible return to Smallville:

Is Lex Luthor Smallville-Bound?

How does a character that has been gone from a TV show for so long continue to be such a big part of it?  This is the case with Michael Resenbaum’s character Lex Luthor on Smallville. The character went missing since the conclusion of the shows seventh season, and now, in its tenth season, he is still playing a huge part.  He is still a part of the plot and continues to affect the lives of the lead characters. And whether Michael Rosenbaum returns or not, the writers are apparently pushing on without him. Promos for the upcoming and final season of Smallville have already revealed Lex Luthor is a big part of this next season.
Yes, everyone knows Lex is one of Superman’s greatest arch-enemies, but in Smallville, he had apparently died two seasons ago. On top of that the fans of the character were crushed when the star tweeted a public message on twitter saying:  I've already stated that I'm not returning.I'd never lead you guys on like that.  I appreciate your suppor.” Read more Here

Michael R. Possible Return Smallville

Seems Rosenbaum is open to the idea about returning back to reprising the role of Lex Luthor in season 10.

This weekend there is a convention called Insurgence Convention in London. Michael Rosenbaum is also there and represents Smallville. A fan was there and here are some snippets:

Here at the convention in London, Michael has been so great, answering loads of questions. I was actually lucky enough to ask him a question during the con and have had a lot of one-on-one time with him.
I asked him, "Brian and Kelly aswell as Tom have all been trying to get you to return to Smallville, so is there any chance you will return for season 10 the final season".
Michael laughed, replied and i quote, " I dont know Tom has been stalking me and talks are being had, its not a no, Lex could come back, crazier things have happend"
